Joint Issues
Problems with joints can come on quickly or over a long period of time. You may have picked up a knock playing rugby or strained something playing tennis. It could be that you have a painful knee which has been getting worse over a longer period of time. In all cases a careful history is needed and most of the time an examination.
Some joint problems will improve by themselves, while others may need more specialist care. We can quickly put you in touch with physiotherapists or a joint specialist where needed. It maybe that medication is needed for a short period of time.
Some joint conditions are best treated with a steroid injection. This can be performed during a 30 minute consultation. Conditions such as trochanteric bursitis, de Quervain’s disease and some knee and shoulder conditions are best treated by this method. Dr Burgess performs around 100 of these injections every year with some excellent results.
