Weight Loss Injections

Many people struggle with their weight and some people may benefit from a new type of drug called GLP-1 agonists. These medications can mimic the body's natural hormones and make you feel fuller quicker, thereby reducing your calorie intake - meaning that you lose weight.  We prescribe a brand called Mounjaro.

Many people derive great benefit from these, but some people experience side effects such as nausea, dizziness as well as both constipation and, less commonly, diarrhoea. While taking Mounjaro, we will have a monthly appointment to assess how it is working for you. As with all of our patients, if there are more pressing issues you can email us anytime. 

After a 30 minute initial assessment, we generally use a 15 minute appointment every month to check on your progress. The initial price of the medication, payable to our partner pharmacy, is £130, but please note this increases as the strength of the medication increases over time. 

With a few exceptions, you need to have a BMI of 30 or above to safely be prescribed Mounjaro. We will not prescribe Mounjaro to patients with a BMI of 27.5 or less.
